“When you’re a homeless person, you can’t bring around too much with you.”

 

KB Free Soup For All is a Singaporean initiative that strives to help the homeless, providing 100 bowls of soup and rice daily for anyone who wants one.

 

However, they’ve recently opened up donations for travel amenities. Why, you ask?

 

Well, the page recently shared one Daniel Tay’s story on his experience at being homeless.

 

4 years ago, Daniel wanted to experience how it would be like to be homeless. So, for 4 days, he went out with nothing but a backpack, 2 sets of clothes, a face towel and some travel-sized toiletries.

 

No phone, no cash, no ATM card but an NRIC.

 

For those 4 days, he showered at public showers and eventually realised that bar soaps were useless because they were terribly difficult to dry. When you’re homeless, you’ve to be on the move, and waiting for bar soaps to dry off is a huge problem.

 

Many of us never had to sleep on the streets, and things like travel shampoos probably mean nothing. But to the homeless, they could be godsend.

 

This is why this donation drive is so meaningful! Travel toiletries like body wash, shampoo, baby lotion, toothbrushes & toothpaste, for many of us, are just excess things we have lying around.

 

Why not give it away to someone who needs it so much more?

 

Truly an amazing initiative started by KB Free Soup For All. Whoever is in need or wants to help, they’re located at M2 Cafe B1-40, The Adelphi.

 

Sometimes, helping out isn’t giving $10,000 to charities, but it could just start by giving something you don’t need away. Something so “meaningless” to us can mean a lot for someone else. Thank you, KB Free Soup For All for this awesome initiative, and going the extra mile for our homeless!
